On average, porcelain crowns can last between 5 to 15 years. But the longevity of your full porcelain crown is determined by your personal lifestyles and mouth-related habits, the oral hygiene practices you followed, and the amount of wear and tear the dental crown can take.
Dental crown procedures are performed routinely across the world on a daily basis and has very less disadvantages. You must be aware of the below before you make a decision.
1.The main disadvantage of crowns is that they require a significant amount of preparation before they can be fitted. This is because the damaged tooth needs to be filed down to such a size where the crown can fit comfortably over the top, and so you can expect your tooth to be filed in both height and width. This is an irreversible process.
2.Risk of infection and nerve damage.
1. Bite Doesn’t Feel Right
2. Pressure on Neighboring Teeth
3. Food Getting Stuck around Crown due to gaps
4. Crown Is Loose
Dental bridges can last five to 15 years and even longer. With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, it is not unusual for the life span of a fixed bridge to be over 10 years.
Replacing missing teeth with a dental bridge should actually make eating easier. Until you become accustomed to the bridge, eat soft foods that have been cut into small pieces.
The risks include :
1. An ill fitting bridge can cause decay of the tooth under the crown
2. Irreversible reduction of the structures of natural healthy teeth to accommodate the appliance in place
3. The restoration can collapse if the supporting teeth are not strong enough
This is hands down the best dental experience of my life, the technology is first rate but what made it the best was the staff they are excellent - communication and making me feel relaxed and cared for thank-you.
My daughter had a tooth removed both the dentist and his nurse were amazing with her made her feel comfortable and told her everything they were doing highly recommend them x
I had my two teeths fixed two days ago. Nothing hurt and I am very satisfied with dentist Jessica Callow. Very kind, always smiling and does a great job. Thanks Jess.
Always been afraid of going to the dentist, since being a patient of Santosh and his team all my fears have gone. Santosh is so gentle ,explains everything and constantly reassures you.The hygienist is also excellent, wouldn't say I look forward to visiting but certainly much more relaxed. Highly recommend 👌
A painless extraction. I had suddenly lost a large filling in a tooth that had been troublesome for sometime. I phoned at 9:30 and spoke to a very efficient receptionist who offered me a 12:30 appointment as a new NHS patient. On arrival at the practice I was met by a very friendly dental nurse and ushered through to the treatment room where the dentist began the examination, taking great care to reassuringly explain how he intended to proceed. All options were explained to me and it was obvious the tooth needed to come out. From the application of anaesthetic to the final extraction, I can honestly say the most I felt was a slight discomfort. Afterwards the aftercare was carefully explained in detail and I was provided with written instructions. I am genuinely impressed by the friendly and professional service provided at short notice and have no hesitation in recommending the practice.
After a long absence from the dentist’s office, I finally faced the music and made an appointment with Stright Road Dental practice. They could not have been more accommodating, friendly, and professional. Zero shame from them while being uplifting and kind. Thank you for easing my anxiousness and fear. Definitely recommend
