Dental Hypnosis

Say goodbye to dental fear forever

Dental Hypnosis - Say Good Bye to Dental Fear Forever

Fear of dental procedure is a very common and distressing condition among adults & children. Often it stems from a previous unpleasant experience. People may neglect their dental health so much that oral disease seriously affects their general health and quality of life. Not Any More.

At Straight Road Dental Practice, we offer Dental Hypnosis, which is a great way of helping you overcome your fear and anxieties. Your dentist acts as a facilitator to help you achieve a pleasant and relaxed state where your fear of dentistry can be overcome. You are fully aware and in control of yourself, unlike the way they show on TV & Stage shows.

Dr Santosh Patil has been offering Hypnotherapy to his patients for more than a decade now. He holds Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis from “Hypnosis Unit United Kingdom” University Collage London Hospital, London. Take the first step in overcoming your fear by calling 01206 769695.

What is Dental Hypnosis?

Dental hypnosis is an altered state of awareness, perception or consciousness that is used, by licensed and trained dentist for treating a psychological or physical problem. It is a state of Deep Relaxation.

Hypnosis is a state of inner absorption, concentration and focused attention. It is like using a magnifying glass to focus the rays of the sun and make them more powerful. Similarly, when our minds are concentrated and focused, we are able to use our minds more powerfully.

What Conditions Can Dental Hypnosis Treat?

  • Fear Elimination & Anxiety Control
  • Analgesia, Anesthesia, Pain Control
  • Prevention of Gagging and Nausea
  • Quelling Undesirable Habits, Tongue Thrust, Reverse Swallowing,
  • TMJ Dysfunction, Bruxism, Clenching
  • Control of Saliva and Bleeding
  • Restorative Appliance Tolerance

How Does It Work?

Hypnotherapist acts as a facilitator to help you achieve a pleasant and relaxed state of mind. Through proven techniques, they then communicate with your subconcious mind to provide it with new & positive instructions that have a strong impact on reversing unwanted behaviours.

Misconceptions About Hypnosis

  • You will not become unconscious and you will be aware of everything at all times. Your will is not weakened in any way. You are in control and cannot be made to do anything against your will. You will not begin to reveal information you wish to keep secret.
  • One common misconsception is that a hypnotized person loses their will and is partially or completely under the command of the hypnotist. Nothing could be further from the truth. This unfortunate belief is reinforced by many stage hypnotists. You are in control of yourself, and cannot be made to do anything that is against your will.

A painless extraction. I had suddenly lost a large filling in a tooth that had been troublesome for sometime. I phoned at 9:30 and spoke to a very efficient receptionist who offered me a 12:30 appointment as a new NHS patient. On arrival at the practice I was met by a very friendly dental nurse and ushered through to the treatment room where the dentist began the examination, taking great care to reassuringly explain how he intended to proceed. All options were explained to me and it was obvious the tooth needed to come out. From the application of anaesthetic to the final extraction, I can honestly say the most I felt was a slight discomfort. Afterwards the aftercare was carefully explained in detail and I was provided with written instructions. I am genuinely impressed by the friendly and professional service provided at short notice and have no hesitation in recommending the practice.
