Why Should I Replace My Missing Teeth?

Missing teeth make eating difficult, change your face shape, and take away your desire to smile. The gap left between your teeth can be a trap for bacteria and plaque. Your existing teeth will shift to fill the empty space creating gaps and crooked teeth. Replacing your missing teeth is not all about your appearance. It is an important way to protect your oral health.

Gold Standard for Replacing Missing Tooth

At Straight Road Dental Practice, we offer you the Gold Standard in missing tooth replacement – the Dental Implants.

A dental implant is a tiny bio-compatible titanium screw that is surgically inserted into the jawbone and topped with a customised crown.

Implant Supported Bridges

If you are missing three or more teeth in a row, we can place an implant supported bridge.

A traditional bridge relies on the natural teeth at either end, requiring us to sacrifice healthy tooth structure.

An implant supported bridge is secured to dental implants at each end, creating a strong and highly aesthetic restoration that does not disturb the adjacent teeth.

The Treatment Procedure

Our clinicians will determine whether your gums, jawbone, and nearby teeth are healthy enough for surgery with the help of few x-rays to determine the most suitable placement for implants. The dentist will insert dental implants into the jawbone through small pilot holes in the gums before closing the incisions with sutures. Over the next three to six months, the implant posts will fuse with the jawbone. At the end of the healing period, a minor surgery is done to expose the implant so that the bridge can be placed. Once the gums are healed, there is a minor follow-up procedure to place abutments. This recovery takes about 2 weeks, after which impressions of teeth are taken for fabrication of custom bridges. Finally, before securing the bridge to the abutments, it is checked to ensure it does not disrupt the bite.

Retention:

If you want to fix that minor misalignment issue in your pearly whites, and don’t want to opt for the old-style bulky braces, removable braces may be just the right option for you. Belt or breaded wire (usually copper, nickel, titanium, or a combination) are permanently bonded on the inner surface of front six teeth. It’s quite durable and comes with a guarantee of 12 months. Brace or clear plastic retainers are made of plastic or polyurethane making it literally “invisible” and are removable. They cover upper and lower full arch, are convenient and comfortable to wear. You need to wear it every night only up to 6-12 months and voila, you’re all set to show off that confident smile!

Always been afraid of going to the dentist, since being a patient of Santosh and his team all my fears have gone. Santosh is so gentle ,explains everything and constantly reassures you.The hygienist is also excellent, wouldn't say I look forward to visiting but certainly much more relaxed. Highly recommend 👌

A painless extraction. I had suddenly lost a large filling in a tooth that had been troublesome for sometime. I phoned at 9:30 and spoke to a very efficient receptionist who offered me a 12:30 appointment as a new NHS patient. On arrival at the practice I was met by a very friendly dental nurse and ushered through to the treatment room where the dentist began the examination, taking great care to reassuringly explain how he intended to proceed. All options were explained to me and it was obvious the tooth needed to come out. From the application of anaesthetic to the final extraction, I can honestly say the most I felt was a slight discomfort. Afterwards the aftercare was carefully explained in detail and I was provided with written instructions. I am genuinely impressed by the friendly and professional service provided at short notice and have no hesitation in recommending the practice.
