The jaw bone, just like any other bone in our body shrinks as we grow older. Hence you may have to visit us to adjust your denture over time. Dentures may need replacing after 5 to 8 years, but this can be extended when treated with proper care and attention.
If you have just had your dentures fitted, it can take a little while to get used to eating the foods you used to.
In the beginning, avoid tough, hard and sticky foods and take smaller bites until you get used to your new bite position.
Our dentist might also suggest some do's & donts for eating with dentures.
If you want to be able to eat all types of your favourite food like before, we recommend opting for dental implants to replace your missing teeth.
Generally it is considered best to remove dentures at night; this is to give your gums a chance to rest. It is especially ideal to leave your dentures out at night if you grind your teeth, as this causes more pressure against your gums.
Please remember to store them in a small amount of cold water to stop them from drying out and warping. Please do not place your dentures in hot water, as this will damage them.
1. Dentures may affect your appearance for the better, giving you a more youthful look.
2. Initially it might take some time for you to get adjusted to the dentures. It is advisable to eat soft food with smaller bites and avoid hard biting food.
3. Sometimes you might also find minor difficulty in speaking.
4. There could be a possibility of developing gum sores as well as you get adjusted to your dentures.
However in a few weeks time you should be able to get used to it and get back to your normal lifestyle.
This is hands down the best dental experience of my life, the technology is first rate but what made it the best was the staff they are excellent - communication and making me feel relaxed and cared for thank-you.

I had my two teeths fixed two days ago. Nothing hurt and I am very satisfied with dentist Jessica Callow. Very kind, always smiling and does a great job. Thanks Jess.
Always been afraid of going to the dentist, since being a patient of Santosh and his team all my fears have gone. Santosh is so gentle ,explains everything and constantly reassures you.The hygienist is also excellent, wouldn't say I look forward to visiting but certainly much more relaxed. Highly recommend 👌
A painless extraction. I had suddenly lost a large filling in a tooth that had been troublesome for sometime. I phoned at 9:30 and spoke to a very efficient receptionist who offered me a 12:30 appointment as a new NHS patient. On arrival at the practice I was met by a very friendly dental nurse and ushered through to the treatment room where the dentist began the examination, taking great care to reassuringly explain how he intended to proceed. All options were explained to me and it was obvious the tooth needed to come out. From the application of anaesthetic to the final extraction, I can honestly say the most I felt was a slight discomfort. Afterwards the aftercare was carefully explained in detail and I was provided with written instructions. I am genuinely impressed by the friendly and professional service provided at short notice and have no hesitation in recommending the practice.
After a long absence from the dentist’s office, I finally faced the music and made an appointment with Stright Road Dental practice. They could not have been more accommodating, friendly, and professional. Zero shame from them while being uplifting and kind. Thank you for easing my anxiousness and fear. Definitely recommend
