What is T-Scan?

Occlusion is defined as the way the teeth meet when the lower jaw and upper jaw come together.

Traditionally, occlusal analysis involved a considerable amount of guesswork. It involved biting on a carbon paper, better known as articulating paper to study the malocclusion. Unfortunately this technique is subjective and does not measure both time and force of biting pressure.

T-Scan is a digital analysis system designed to measure and record each patients specific biting patterns and forces over time. This enables our clinicians to determine your bite dynamics and gives us the information we need to easily determine and restore the perfect balance of your bite.

How does T-Scan work?

The T-Scan system is a handheld device that utilizes a disposable, extremely thin mouth-shaped sensor. The patient simply have to bite against the sensor which records the biting force, timing & pressure which is then displayed on a computer screen allowing our clinicians to visualize the problem areas. The T-Scan procedure is completely painless and non-invasive.

A painless extraction. I had suddenly lost a large filling in a tooth that had been troublesome for sometime. I phoned at 9:30 and spoke to a very efficient receptionist who offered me a 12:30 appointment as a new NHS patient. On arrival at the practice I was met by a very friendly dental nurse and ushered through to the treatment room where the dentist began the examination, taking great care to reassuringly explain how he intended to proceed. All options were explained to me and it was obvious the tooth needed to come out. From the application of anaesthetic to the final extraction, I can honestly say the most I felt was a slight discomfort. Afterwards the aftercare was carefully explained in detail and I was provided with written instructions. I am genuinely impressed by the friendly and professional service provided at short notice and have no hesitation in recommending the practice.
